1254 SWITZERLAND POSTCARDS INC. PROPAGANDA. "A very attractive range of early postcards with many important ones present, with the vast majority in excellent condition. There are about 230 cards here, with occasional series such as the multicolored military set of 16 commemorating ranging events from 1291 to 1918 with themes such as 'Le Pacte de Brunnen', through to 'Morgarten' right up to 'Die Evakuierten'. Others include 'Soldatengruss', as well as various maps etc. Extensive Heraldry also seen for the different Cantons, a good range of William Tells, multi colored embossed 'standing Helvetia' allegory, various almost 3D representations of mountain ranges, battle scenes, villages/small towns, music cards inc. the yodelling 'Le Ranz des Vaches'. Interesting anti Kaiser Wilhelm issues showing God admonishing the German Emperor in various ways, popular classic stamps issues, i.e. Zurich '4' and '6' as well as 'double Genevas', Basel Doves, etc. with a good range of these cards as well. Also better Geneva cards, even a Zeppelin card showing the arms of the open Helvetia, willing to welcome those wounded in the 'Europe of blood' (WWI). The most intriguing part of this group is 106 covers in two albums that are 1970ís period returned covers. These covers were sent to a variety of exotic destinations such as Vanuatu, Falkland Islands, New Hebrides, Korea and other seldom seen destinations and returned for a variety of reasons. The end result is a group of covers with a plethora of auxiliary markings. The other covers are primarily special event and First Day covers from 1940 to the 1980ís and have a good selection of topical material.
