H. R. Harmer of Irvine, California is pleased to offer its most extensive section of US and US Possessions since its move to California. The Postal History section starts with a 1750 folded letter with a manuscript Boston postmark from a member of the Boston Tea Party, continues with an excellent group of Northwest Territory covers including the earliest use of a Chillicothe straight-line postmark, followed by Indiana, Westerns including two covers with Newspaper stamps, and a CSA "Through-the-Lines" cover from Richmond to Indianapolis with an Adams Express Co. label. There are over 900 lots of US singles, blocks and sheets including Fancy Cancels, a Very Fine never hinged 1861 10c Green (Scott 68), a block of 25 of the 3c grilled Banknote (Scott 136) which is one of the largest blocks still in existence, 12c soft paper Special Printing (Scott 198), sheets starting with Scott 264, centerline blocks of Scott 315 and 534B both with PF certificates, two Scott 834a (the rare $5 Red Brown shade) both with PF certificates, a nice section of errors including imperforates and color omitted stamps plus the Rare NY Stock Exchange Invert (Scott 2630c), two 24c Airmail Inverts (Scott C3a) positions 6 and 15 both with PF certificates, Newspaper stamps, Used $1 Pony Express stamp with “front hoof missing” (Scott 143L3 variety), excellent section of 1st Issue through 3rd Issue Revenues, Federal Duck Hunting Permit errors, State Duck stamps including Governor's Editions, gutter pairs, errors and essays, Canal Zone sheets including Scott 11, 13, 18 and 20 plus "SPECIMEN" overprints in multiples, finally and extensive Hawaiian section including sheets, Specimens, cancels, overprint varieties, revenue documents and 60 lots of postal history.

Assorted full mint sheets are scattered through the various sections, most notably Labuan and Germany, along with a wide selection of used Commonwealth including various “£” and other high values. Some 1,200 sets, singles and Postal History will be offered on Friday, September 25th, at 9.00am and 2.00pm. The British Commonwealth section features useful ranges of Australia and States, Canada and Great Britain and features New South Wales 1885/86 £1 "Postage" overprint, Bahamas scarce 1942 5/- red lilac and blue on chalky, British Central Africa 1885 £25 Arms "Specimen" hand stamped overprint, one of only four known, and Falkland Islands 1930s photo essays including the £1 Centenary. Moving to the General Foreign section we find strength in the various Western Europe countries most notably Austria and Germany with colonies. Featured are Iceland's rare 1897 Large "prir 3" on 5a Green, Perf 14x13 1/2, Germany Zeppelin sets and singles including the 4m Chicago Flight full sheet of 50 plus a a nice group of "Inselpost" overprints. The showpiece of this session is the discovery and still only known example of the Naples 1861 2g "Celeste" with embossing (head) omitted. Finally, look for an expertized group of Saar 1947 issue imperforate blocks and a nice assortment of various Western Europe 1930s souvenir sheets. In our US and Possessions section, we have our usual range of postal history, singles and graded material up to Gem-100J including Scott 28, 528B and R37a. Followed by some very interesting Canal Zone postal history featuring the wreck of the SS Finance, Hawaiian postal history starting with an 1827 cover from Oahu, a specialized Philippines handstamp "O.B." collection which includes most of the US overprinted issues, and an exceptional showing of the Philippines 1925 imperfs in multiples up to sheets of 100.
